A Coeducational School

At Kingswood College, we wholeheartedly embrace the principles of coeducation and strive to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.

As an educator, I am constantly seeking ways to provide the best possible learning environment for students. One approach that has my absolute full support is coeducation. Having led single sex schools throughout my 30 year career, it has become abundantly clear that setting young people up in the environment they will work and live in for the rest of their lives is paramount.

Embracing the Benefits of Coeducation

Fostering Excellence, Inclusion and Diversity
Chrissy Gamble, Principal

Coeducation, the practice of educating young people together, offers a wealth of benefits that enrich the educational experience and prepare students for success in a diverse world. As we describe it at Kingswood College, coeducation is all about learning as we live!

Research conducted by renowned educationalist John Hattie underscores the positive impact of coeducation on student learning outcomes. Hattie's extensive meta-analyses have consistently shown that coeducational settings promote higher academic achievement, improved social skills, and enhanced self-confidence among students. By learning alongside peers of all genders, students are exposed to a wider range of perspectives, ideas, and approaches to problem-solving, fostering a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Moreover, coeducation nurtures essential life skills such as effective communication, collaboration, and empathy, which are critical for success in today's interconnected world. By interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of gender equality and mutual respect.

By harnessing the power of coeducation, we empower our students to become confident, compassionate, and resilient individuals who are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern world.

As partners in your child's education, we invite you to join us in celebrating the myriad benefits of coeducation and the transformative impact it has on our student's lives. Together, let us continue to champion diversity, equality, and excellence in education.

At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
