At Kingswood College, all Middle and Senior students participate in workshops, presentations, and excursions designed to ignite career curiosity and provide essential skills like resume writing and job hunting. These experiences broaden their understanding of future opportunities.
As students progress into Senior School, they receive tailored support in selecting and adjusting subjects and navigating the university and TAFE application process. Individualised sessions guide them through VTAC registration, applications, and offer periods, ensuring they make informed choices.
Year 10 students attend a fortnightly “Futures” class, exploring career paths, labour market trends, work experience planning, and VCE and post-secondary options. They also complete the Morrisby Careers Assessment, an aptitude test that identifies strengths, interests, and personality traits, aligning them with potential career paths. Results are reviewed in a group session with a Morrisby-certified practitioner, with additional support for parents through webinars.
Guided by the VCAA Career Education Framework, our approach emphasises helping each student discover their unique path, fostering self-awareness, exploring diverse options, and developing a personalised plan for their future.
A post-graduate qualified Career Development Practitioner, employed as our Careers and Pathways Coordinator supports students and parents with decision-making around courses and career pathways. With the ability to book one-off or regular meetings with students or families, our Careers and Pathways Coordinator also provides tertiary news, employment opportunities and careers updates in our Weekly Newsletter.
At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
