At the heart of this model is explicit instruction—a systematic, engaging, and success-oriented teaching method that ensures students fully understand and retain new knowledge and skills. Research tells us that students learn best when teaching is clear, structured, and guided, rather than leaving them to construct or discover information on their own. That’s why our approach is intentional and highly focused, providing the right balance of guidance and independence as students progress.
Our Instructional Model is built on the Gradual Release of Responsibility, which means that learning begins with strong teacher support and gradually shifts towards student independence. Teachers break down new concepts into small, manageable steps, providing clear explanations, step-by-step demonstrations, and worked examples. They explicitly show students what to do, why it matters, and how it connects to their prior learning.
Throughout the learning process, our teachers check for understanding, address misconceptions, and provide targeted support to ensure every child is making progress. As students build confidence and competence, we gradually remove supports until they can apply their learning independently and approach more complex challenges.
This structured approach ensures that students don’t just memorise information—they truly master it, retain it, and know how to use it in different contexts. By embedding best teaching practices into every classroom, we are creating an environment where all students can succeed and thrive.
